The Ministry of Panchayati Raj (MoPR) will honour 210 Panchayat representatives from acrossIndia as Special Guests for the Independence Day celebrations, recognizing their grassroots leadership and contributions to rural development.

The Ministry of Panchayati Raj (MoPR) will host 210 Panchayat representatives from 28 States and Union Territories as Special Guests at the Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort, New Delhi, on August 15, 2025. Accompanied by their spouses and nodal officers, the total delegation will comprise 425 participants.
A formal felicitation ceremony is scheduled for August 14 in New Delhi, to be attended by Union Minister of Panchayati Raj Shri Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh, Union Minister of State Prof. S. P. Singh Baghel, Secretary MoPR Shri Vivek Bharadwaj, and other senior officials. Centered on the theme “आत्मनिर्भर पंचायत, विकसित भारत की पहचान”, the event highlights the role of self-reliant Panchayats as pivotal to building a developed India.
The ceremony will feature the launch of the AI-powered SabhaSaar Application and the release of the 16th issue of the Gramoday Sankalp magazine. Many of the Special Guests are women Panchayat leaders who have made remarkable contributions to their Gram Panchayats—enhancing infrastructure, improving public services, and implementing inclusive community initiatives.
These leaders exemplify grassroots governance excellence, achieving saturation in flagship government schemes such as Har Ghar Jal Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin, and Mission Indradhanush, while fostering innovative local solutions. Their participation celebrates the growing strength and vision of rural leadership in shaping a self-reliant and developed India.
