Victoria Beckham has admitted that she "cried" over money woes in a heartbreaking confession. Speaking to The Times ahead of the launch of her new Netflix documentary, the former singer has detailed how she fought to be accepted by a notoriously demanding fashion industry. The 51-year-old rose to fame as part of girl group the Spice Girls in the 1990s, but later stepped away from music to launch her own self-named fashion house. In the self-titled series, which is released on October 9, Victoria explained how difficult it was to get her fashion label off the ground.
She explained: "I touch on my family, I touch on the Spice Girls, the problems we've had with the business, you know, the money we've lost - there have been lots of triggers. I cried. Like I said, I haven't seen the final edit, but yes, I did cry. It takes quite a lot to make me cry, but I did cry. You know, I've earned my place to show in Paris, I've earned the respect."
In a teaser for the documentary, her husband David appears alongside her in the clip and is seen telling his wife: "You could make a cheese and ham toasted sandwich and we'd be proud of you," and Victoria then joked: "Let's be honest, I couldn't actually make a cheese sandwich very well."
The Spice Girls star also revealed why she agreed to do the docuseries, after admitting she used different styles to become someone else.
She told The Times: "As to your previous question - why I decided to do the documentary - it's because I love this industry. I have so much respect for it. It's an industry everybody participates in whether they acknowledge it or not - the reason being it's illegal to go out without any clothes on."
Victoria has been with the retired soccer star, with whom she has children Brooklyn, 26, Romeo, 23, Cruz, 20, and 14-year-old Harper, for 28 years, and she loves the fact that David has always offered her support and believed in her dreams.
She told America's ELLE magazine: "So often in relationships, one will say to the other, 'You've changed.' Well, of course you've changed! You're a different person when you're 20 than when you're 50.
"He believed in me when a lot of people didn't. He invested in me. At times I've been a laughingstock, people not taking my business seriously, but he always believed in me."
