Piers Morgan has joined the conversation after Rachel Reeves appeared to cry during Prime Minister's Questions today. The Chancellor appeared to have visible bags under her eyes and was accused by Kemi Badenoch of looking "absolutely miserable." During one moment, Rachel appeared to shed a tear as Keir Starmer refused to confirm she will keep her job. Ms Reeves' appearance during Prime Minister's Questions has now sparked a flood of online speculation, with former Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan having his say. He typing on X, he said: "What on earth is going on with the Chancellor???!"
GB News star Emily Carver also said online: "Rachel Reeves looks like she's been crying. I'm not surprised. After last night, she's the one who has to pick up the pieces."
During PMQs, Kemi said: "She [Rachel] looks absolutely miserable! She looks absolutely miserable. Labour MPs are going on the record to say that the Chancellor is toast, and the reality is she is a human shield for his incompetence.
"In January he [Sir Keir] said she would be in post until the next election, will she really?" The Prime minister dodged the question, to which Kemi noted: "How awful for the Chancellor that he couldn't confirm that she will stay in place."
The PMQs come amid the welfare fallout following Labour's dramatic gutting of its welfare bill last night. As the questions ended, Rachel was ushered out of the chamber by her sister and fellow MP, Ellie Reeves.
According to LBC, a spokesman for the Chancellor said her upset was due to "a personal matter." They added: "The Chancellor will be working out of Downing Street this afternoon."
In addition, Sir Keir Starmer's press secretary said today that Reeves "is going nowhere".
Earlier during PMQs, minister Pat McFadden said Sir Keir's last-minute retreat on welfare reform will have "financial consequences." He stated that ministers "will keep to the tax promises" in their election manifesto.
