A binge-worthy Netflix limited series you can devour in a single day has been hailed as 'probably the best show Netflix has put out in years'.
As streaming platform users settle in for the weekend, many are pondering which unwatched title might fill their evening hours.
In a recent Reddit post on the Netflix forum, one viewer posed exactly this question.
The poster set the scene in their message: "Weekend afternoon, husband and I were planning to host some friends for cocktails and a lovely dinner, but they just called to cancel the last minute because they are sick and don't want to make rest of us ill.
"So we have the night to ourselves, for date night some amazing cocktails, appetisers and a grilled porkchop dinner ahead of us. Don't feel like inviting anyone else, so I'm currently searching for a good Netflix limited series to watch tonight. Something good, like a thriller or action packed. Any suggestions welcome! I'm running out of patience scrolling aimlessly and reading reviews."
Whilst some recommended newer offerings such as Department Q and American Primeval, one of the most popular suggestions highlighted a title from several years back that may have escaped some viewers' attention , reports the Mirror.
Godless became available on Netflix back in 2017.
According to its plot summary, the series chronicles infamous outlaw Frank Griffin, portrayed by Jeff Daniels, and his criminal gang as they pursue vengeance against Roy Goode, played by SAS Rogue Heroes and Skins actor Jack O'Connell. He is a son-like apprentice who turned against the fraternity.
Whilst fleeing, Roy finds sanctuary with battle-hardened widow Alice Fletcher (Michelle Dockery), herself an outsider, in a crumbling, remote mining settlement of La Belle, NM -- ruled predominantly by women. When news arrives in La Belle that Griffin is approaching, the community unites to stand against the bloodthirsty gang in an anarchic western wilderness.

Godless was conceived and penned by Scott Frank, whose earlier work includes crafting the screenplay for Logan and Minority Report. He also directed programmes such as The Queen's Gambit and Dept Q.
Endorsing the seven-episode series, one viewer remarked: "Godless - probably the best show Netflix has put out in years. 10/10. It's perfect for both men and women."
Another concurred, stating the programme "has it all" whilst another declared it is "better than American Primeval". Critics and audiences continue to heap praise upon it years later, having achieved an impressive 83% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
One enthusiast described it as: "Instant Western classic masterpiece, stylish, intriguing, violent and beautiful, all at the same time."
Meanwhile, someone else claimed it "exceeded all expectations" and despite minor flaws, likened it to "like a Game of Thrones you can binge in a weekend."
Another individual shared: "Godless is, without a doubt, one of the best Western series I've ever seen. It has that vintage, classic feel that captures the essence of the Wild West while delivering a fresh, captivating story. Set in a small, isolated town of women after a mining accident, the series brings together action, deep emotion, and unforgettable characters."
Godless is streaming on Netflix.
