Lewis Hamilton 'working on TV show' as Brit teases next project after F1 movie

Lewis Hamilton is working on a TV show idea and 'a couple of animation films' as he doubles down on his activities with his Dawn Apollo Films production company. The seven-time world champion played a pivotal role in bringing the F1 movie to life and onto the big screen.

Hamilton's desire for creative outlets outside of his motorsport exploits is well-documented. The 40-year-old has long held a passion for music creation and is now venturing into the world of cinema, with the F1 movie being his first significant contribution.

The project was a certified success. After bringing in £479million ($629m) at the worldwide box office, F1: The Movie became the highest-grossing sports movie of all time, overtaking Pixar's Cars 2 in the process.

Speaking to The Ferrari Magazine about the process, he said: "I'm so happy with it... To have real involvement in the film and to be able to engage so fully in the process was crazy. Joe [Kosinski, the film's director] came to me and said, 'I'm thinking about doing this movie, I would love to get Brad Pitt.'

"We didn't have him at that point. And I helped bridge some gaps and be part of it to the point where the end credits roll. I spent time in the edit and watched sections of the film on my laptop and sent notes. I met with Hans Zimmer in his amazing studio in Santa Monica. What a four years it's been, and what a privilege."

Hamilton's Dawn Apollo Films company continues to be active in the cinema space after the F1 movie's release cycle, and the Stevenage-born racer revealed that he is already looking ahead to his subsequent productions.

"We have some ideas," he confessed. "I'm in the process of figuring it out, but storytelling is something I'm really passionate about. More than ever, we need inspirational stories out there, given the dark times we live in.

"I love comedy, and I've got a particular idea for a television show. I'm working on a couple of animation movie ideas, and we're getting sent so much stuff since the F1 movie happened, it's crazy. But it's not about doing lots and lots of projects; it's more like Quentin Tarantino does it, quality rather than quantity."

In the meantime, Hamilton is still hunting for his first F1 podium with Ferrari. With four rounds of the 2025 campaign remaining, the Italian constructor is locked into an intense Constructors' Championship battle with Mercedes and Red Bull, with the current standings having the Scuderia one point ahead of their nearest rivals.
