In a world where screens and notifications are ever-present, 'digital detox' holidays provide British families with a valuable opportunity to step away from technology and rediscover personal connections. These screen-free escapes encourage families to bond over simple pleasures like playing games on the beach, exploring nature trails, or sharing stories around a campfire.
For busy British households, these 'back to basics' holidays offer a welcome reset. Many adults remember those nostalgic camping trips as kids in the days before mobile phones, when the only signal was smoke from the fire and the best connections were made under the stars. Now that nostalia can be shared with their own children at Feather Down Farms - a farm stay holiday company that provides off-grid camping adventures across the UK.
While upscale British holiday villages like Center Parcs are expected to be as popular as always this summer, a growing number of countryside retreats suggests that families are looking for ways to enjoy more old fashioned fun.
With no Wi-Fi or electric hook ups, these breaks promise carefree adventures for children and a bucket load of nostalgia for the adults that go with them. Whether you're planning a family break or simply craving a change of pace, booking a nature-filled retreat is now even more accessible thanks to a new £50 discount offer for last minute getaways.
With farms dotted around the country including Kent, Dorest, Cornwall, Shropshire, Gloucestershire and East Sussex, a trip away doesn't need to be too far from home either. While many locations are dog friendly and offer cooking facilities including pizza ovens, some also offer extra bonus activities such as a play park or hot tub.
With nothing but rolling hills, rustic accommodations and quality time together on the agenda, these countryside escapes are quickly becoming the go-to choice for families and friends looking to reconnect. Find out more information about last minute breaks at Feather Down Farm, here.
Elsewhere, Forest Holidays offers log cabin holidays suitable for families, in 13 dog-friendly locations. Guests have called the outdoor adventure holidays "a great way to relax and enjoy nature."
For holidaymakers who can't face being completely out of contact, Haven offers caravan park accommodation close to some of the UK's most inconic coastal hot spots. Prices start from £99 for a short break in September, with a variety of caravan options and extras to choose from.
There are great deals on traditional holiday fun to be found outside the UK too. Eurocamp Holidays are a family favourite, offering lodge and caravan holidays with pools and playparks in scenic locations throughout France and beyond. While the cost of travel is an added extra, summer breaks can still be snapped up for under £400.

Visitors who have already enjoyed an off-grid getaway at Feather Down Farms have left many glowing reviews on Tripadvisor. One guest said: "We had an amazing weekend here and would love to come back! Set in the most idyllic spot looking down the Gorge valley surrounded by rolling fields full of sheep, this was the escape we needed."
Another added: "We had the pleasure of a weekend at the wonderful Moor Farm on the outskirts of Gloucester. Our stay was in a beautifully designed bell tent complete with bunks/cabin bed for the girls to pick from... The set-up was rustic and in keeping with the farm experience. Our children were given free rein of the woods and spent hours just exploring with the other children staying onsite."
Not all reviews were quite so glowing, however, with one guest disappointed with the price. The said: "There are far lovelier and better run clamping sites all around England - that aren't nearly as hard on the wallet."
Mopst guests enoyed the experience, with another five-star review saying: "The facilities are spot on and I haven't enjoyed myself so much away in a long time, relaxing, lots of things to do locally as well as walks around and about the farm, horses to cuddle, guinea pigs to cuddle in the cuddle barn."
