Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s meetings with sportspersons often turn into heartwarming and memorable interactions. Known for encouraging India’s athletes, PM Modi recently hosted the Indian women’s cricket team at his residence on November 5, following their historic ICC Women’s World Cup triumph.
The meeting was filled with laughter and informal conversations, as the players shared their experiences both on and off the field. During the lively exchange, cricketer Harleen Deol curiously asked the Prime Minister, “Sir, I want to know about your skincare routine. You glow so much!” Her lighthearted question left everyone amused.
Responding with his trademark humility, PM Modi smiled and said, “I haven’t paid much attention to this topic. It’s the love and blessings of millions of Indians that make me glow. I’ve been in public life for 25 years, and those blessings truly reflect.”
Adding to the fun, Indian women’s team head coach Amol Mazumdar joked, “Sir, see how these players come up with such questions! It’s been two years since I became their coach, and my hair has already turned gray.” Laughter filled the room once again.
Apart from these light moments, PM Modi also gave an inspiring message to the players. He urged them to revisit their schools and inspire students. “When you return home, enjoy the celebrations, but after a few days, go back to your school and spend time with the children. They’ll remember you for life,” he told them warmly.
With their World Cup victory, India joined the ranks of Australia, England, and New Zealand as champions in the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup. The team had previously reached the finals twice but narrowly missed the title — making this win even more historic.
