Dr. John Levin, a 93-year-old Melbourne-based general practitioner and anti-aging specialist, has taken the world by surprise by becoming a father at such an advanced age. In February 2024, he and his 37-year-old wife, Dr. Yangying Lu, welcomed their son Gabby, conceived through in-vitro fertilization (IVF) with donor sperm.
Their unique story highlights that retirement from work does not mean retreat from life's joys. Despite the large age gap, Dr. Levin and his wife are already planning for another child. Dr. Levin remains determined to be present for all of his son’s milestones, including his Bar Mitzvah at age 13 and his 21st birthday, envisioning himself as an active father despite his age.
Levin credits his longevity and vitality to disciplined lifestyle habits including decades of human growth hormone injections, regular exercise, and abstaining from alcohol and tobacco. He already has three adult children from his first marriage, along with several grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
