Passengers have been warned of disruption 'for hours' after trains to Manchester Airport were cancelled.
Several trains have been cancelled in Manchester as an urgent safety inspection takes place. Railway lines are currently blocked at Heald Green, impacting services between Piccadilly and Manchester Airport.
At least five trains have been cancelled heading from the city centre to the airport between 9.30am and 10am. It leaves those heading out of the UK on their holidays concerned. National Rail says passengers will now face delays and cancellations until 1.30pm.

Passengers are being warned to expect major disruption throughout the morning and into the afternoon due to an urgent safety inspection in Greater Manchester. Holidaymakers trying to get to Manchester Airport are being urged to plan ahead.
A National Rail spokesperson said: "There is a safety inspection of the track taking place in the East Didsbury area, closing some lines. As a result of this, trains running between Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Airport / Wilmslow may be cancelled, delayed by up to 30 minutes or revised.
"Disruption is expected until 13:30. CrossCountry and Avanti West Coast services are being diverted via an alternative route due to engineering work taking place [in Stockport], meaning their services are also being impacted by this issue."
The operator confirmed Northern, TransPennine Express, Avanti West Coast and Transport for Wales services are all affected. The delays and cancellations will go on for at least another three hours.
Manchester Airport is the UK's third busiest passenger airport. It has three terminals and two runways. It is located to the south west of Manchester city centre and the airport handles 163,000 passengers on average every day.
