A child has tragically died at a UK beauty spot after getting in difficulty in the water.
Emergency services rushed to Wacker Quay at Antony near Torpoint, Cornwall at 6pm on Saturday. Paramedics tragically pronounced a child dead at the scene. The age or gender of the child has not been revealed at this time,
Devon and Cornwall Police said in a statement to Plymouth Plus: "Emergency services were called at around 6pm on Saturday 16 August to Wacker Quay at Antony, near Torpoint, following concerns for a person in the water.

"A child was sadly confirmed deceased at the scene. Next of kin have been informed and will be supported by officers. The death is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
Police, paramedics, fire crews, HM Coastguard teams, HART and two helicopters were deployed to the beauty spot following concerns for someone in the water.” Crews worked throughout the night, with floodlights set up on the shoreline and a number of emergency service vehicles parked nearby.
Privacy screens were erected on the shoreline as detectives and forensic officers gathered evidence at the scene. Officers were later seen loading evidence bags into a car.
On the Tamar Valley National Landscape website, Wacker Quay is described as providing "stunning views and free public access to the River Lynher". It is a well used spot for walkers and anglers, while visitors can also paddle, canoe and kayak up the river depending on tide.
