When to start giving curd to babies: Yogurt is an essential part of our diet. It's not only delicious but also very beneficial for health. But when it comes to young children, parents often wonder when and how much yogurt should be introduced to their babies. Pediatrician Parul Khanna shared a video on her Instagram handle. In the video, the doctor explains in a simple way when and how to introduce yogurt to a baby. Let's find out more about this:
What does the pediatrician say?
According to Dr. Parul Khanna, solid foods can be introduced to a baby when they are 6 months old. You can also introduce yogurt to your baby from this time. Yogurt is a nutritious and light food for babies, easy to digest, and provides essential nutrients.
Which yogurt should you give?
Always feed your baby pure homemade yogurt. Flavored yogurt or packaged yogurt available in the market contains preservatives and sugar, which can be harmful to your child. Use full-cream or full-fat milk to make yogurt at home so your child gets adequate fat and energy.
How to feed yogurt?
Initially, feed your child only 1 to 2 teaspoons of yogurt. Once your child's stomach can digest it properly, you can gradually increase the amount. Avoid adding salt, sugar, honey, or jaggery to the yogurt. If desired, you can add soft fruits like a banana or a papaya to it. This will enhance the taste and nutrition of the yogurt.

Is it okay to give yogurt for coughs and colds?
People often think that eating yogurt causes coughs and colds, but according to Dr. Parul Khanna, this is a misconception. Yogurt is rich in calcium, protein, and vitamin B12, which strengthen your child's immunity. Therefore, yogurt can be given to your child even for mild coughs and colds.
In this way, by keeping small things in mind, you can start feeding curd to your child.
