Recently, actor Akshay Kumar shared an incident that highlighted the importance of the relationship between children and parents. Akshay explained that his daughter was playing an online game in which she was connected with a stranger. During the game, the person asked his daughter, "Are you a boy or a girl?" When his daughter replied, "girl," he immediately asked her to send nude photos of herself.
Akshay's daughter immediately closed the game and informed her mother, Twinkle Khanna, about the incident. This incident illustrates how cybercriminals are targeting children online. It can be a small beginning that can escalate into a major crime.
Teach children cybersecurity lessons.
Cybercrime, or internet-related crimes, is increasing at a much faster rate than common street crimes. These criminals target children using social media, gaming apps, and other online platforms. Therefore, your children must be aware of these dangers. Akshay Kumar has also appealed to the Chief Minister of Maharashtra to introduce a "cyber period" in schools, where children from seventh to tenth grades are taught about cybersecurity.
An important lesson for every parent
What Akshay's daughter did is a lesson for every child. Instead of panicking and taking any wrong action, she immediately informed her parents about the situation. This was possible only because of the strong parent-child relationship between them.

If your child doesn't hide anything from you and tells you everything without fear, it's a victory for you. Be your children's friend. Talk to them every day, ask what they're doing, what games they're playing, and who they're talking to online. Explain to them that if a stranger makes such a request, they should tell you immediately.
