Can one travel on a waiting ticket or not?
Many times when passengers make reservations. Then their tickets are not confirmed. It goes into waiting list. In such a situation, many passengers have this question in their mind. Can one travel in a train on a waiting ticket? So let us tell you that you can travel in a train on a waiting ticket. But you can travel on a waiting ticket only in general coaches.
Passengers with waiting tickets are allowed to travel in trains. But this ticket does not give the right to a confirmed seat. That is, you can sit in the train with a waiting ticket, but there is no guarantee of a seat. If your ticket is waiting list. Then you will have to sit standing or only if you get an empty seat.
How much can be the fine?
If you are traveling in a train with a waiting ticket. And you travel in sleeper or AC coach. Then the TTE can charge you a fine. The amount of the fine can vary according to different trains and classes. Now usually it is between Rs 100 to Rs 500. If the ticket is found to be completely fake or you are traveling without a ticket, then the fine can increase even more. Along with this, the TTE can send you to the general coach or can also drop you at the next station.
